YoLarates™ brought together the best of yoga, ballet, barre, and Pilates.
Bare Barre™ took that foundation back to basics—adding more footwork, more stretching, and more of the original and classic movements from Lotte Berk and the Lotte Berk Method.
Legacy Barre brings it all together.
It is the culmination of more than 55 years of ballet training, more than 40 years of practicing Callanetics, more than 20 years of studying various barre methods, nearly two decades of teaching barre, more than 25 barre-specific trainings from 15 organizations, and more than 30 additional trainings through 16 fitness organizations.
But Legacy Barre isn’t simply a collection of movements from those experiences. It is the application of all of that knowledge—combined with an understanding of anatomy, exercise science, musicality, tactile adjustments, barre history, teaching methodology, and how to thoughtfully build an authentic, effective barre class.
Legacy Barre honors where barre came from while recognizing how the method has evolved.
It is about understanding why we do what we do—not simply learning a list of exercises.
It is about knowing the history, understanding the body, respecting the original work, teaching with intention, using music purposefully, making appropriate adjustments and modifications, and knowing how to put the pieces together to create an exceptional barre experience.
Legacy Barre is the culmination of decades of learning, practicing, teaching, questioning, studying, and evolving—while always keeping the legacy of barre at its heart.
